happy friday

Images from my own collection
Both taken in Hamburg

Happy Friday everyone.
Hope it has been a wonderful week.
I am back on the island and happy to be home.
It was a great trip. I made new friends, learned so many wonderful new things, enjoyed the company of my friends in Hamburg and spent time with family.
Now it is back to work and enjoying island life.

Have a splendid weekend.

For a little taste of what Fuikdag is like visit this link

It is the first weekend of the year.
Which brings us Fuikdag on Sunday.
An amazing boat and beach party in Curacao.
But first we start tonight with Su'legria.
Hope you will have a fun and laughter-filled weekend as well.

Enjoy

beach days

Pictures 2 and 5 were taken on the paradise island of Curacao

It is Wednesday, and I am happy to note I have the afternoon off and will be heading to the boat with my friends later on today. There is nothing like a mid-week dip in the clear turquoise  ocean of the Caribbean.
Have a beautiful day, wherever it is that you are today.
Smile loads.

Ahh summer, such a lovely season.
When I lived in Amsterdam (where the weather is not a great as I would have liked it) I would love the idea that July was nearing. The anticipation of warm weather (hopefully), the sweet flowers, flying to Spain and France to enjoy the long lazy afternoon looking over the Mediterranean and the long evenings filled dinner and laughs with the girls.

Have a splendid weekend.
It will be a long one here, Monday we have off as well.
Smile loads.
Laugh much.

happy friday

All so chic.

When you live in the Caribbean people somehow think you either live on the beach (ok, I have a view of the water in the morning), spend all your days eating coconuts (hmm, does coconut oil count) and go around wearing summer dresses (only in the weekend....I promise). In reality...we do tend to work here as well (with mandatory Caribbean vacations each weekend). So this weekend, to take a break from Curacao we are taking the yacht and heading to Aruba (yep....another island....cause really...who could get enough of this). On Sunday we'll be starting the engines early in the morning (I wrote "we" but in reality I have quite little to do with the whole process), making our way through the calm waters of "Spaanse Water" toward the Caribbean Sea and heading West to the happy island of Aruba (it takes about 5 hours at sea, enough time to simply enjoy the hundred shades of blue, the sound of the waves and the wind and a few magazines to entertain me). Ah, no worries....Tuesday I will be back at the office just like everyone else in the world.

As for my parents; they are enjoying a weekend in the Netherlands, soaking in the cool spring weather (recovery of the summer heat we have here), shopping a bit and lingering along cute Dutch cobblestone streets lined with delicious tiny restaurants and cafes. (ah yes.... I do miss that a bit as well actually.... thank goodness for travel).

Enjoy your weekend; wherever in the world you are.
Smile loads.

beach days

I know....it is just Wednesday, but in light of the long weekend ahead I am already looking forward to many days at the beach, catching up on my tan, (mind you I use sunblock 70....but....hmmm a minor glow to the body is always welcome), loads of swimming and enjoying the island. (It's like a mini-vacation at home).

Have a beautiful day.

(gosh, I wish I could look this put-together and chic on the boat)

It's back to the office after a very windy and sunny weekend on the boat.
It's getting warmer on the island (yes it is possible) and we're looking forward to an activity filled month of April. Have a great one (day, week and month).

happy friday

Good morning lovelies, I hope you woke up to a beautiful Friday morning (here there was a bit of rain storm....but it has calmed down now). This weekend there is carnival on the island. I must admit that I am not a avid carnival participant nor viewer. Thus I will spend the coming days lounging away on the boat and  having brunch with the girls on Sunday. Simply divine.
What fun are you up to this weekend?

Smile loads.
Enjoy every moment.

the pelican

Photos from own collection

As some of you might know my photography-skills are not quite as wonderful as I would like them to be (class will be taken to improve this). But, I can't resist sharing these images with you.
Almost every Saturday and Sunday we make our way to the boat, cruise the Spanish Waters and head to Barbara Beach. This Sunday, we had a visitor. The Pelican. There he was, lounging away on the deck, soaking in the sun. (Mind you, he didn't move till we were almost ready to leave). Such a funny sight to see.
(Let's hope he is just a visitor and not a permanent resident.....this is an odor related matter).
