dinner party II

photo from own collection

Saturday night dinner party. 4 Friends. Chinese steamboat. Loads of candles. Jukebox playing Cafe del Mar. And many laughs.

I find that the truly amazing things are usually found in details. One of the things I love are the chopsticks, each pair, individually wrapped in their covers to match the colour of the chopsticks.

Paris is the city in which one loves to live. Sometimes I think this is because it is the only city in the world where you can step out of a railway station—the Gare D’Orsay—and see, simultaneously, the chief enchantments: the Seine with its bridges and bookstalls, the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Tuileries Gardens, the Place de la Concorde, the beginning of the Champs Elysees—nearly everything except the Luxembourg Gardens and the Palais Royal. But what other city offers as much as you leave a train?-Margaret Anderson

a few of my favourite things

There are very few women I know that do not enjoy the immense extacy of a laduree macaroon. As if it were yesterday I remember the first time I stepped into the fairtale salon of the rue royal Laduree in Paris. From the angels on the walls to the exquite boxes filled with sweet coloured macaroons, I instantly knew that this would be one of my favourite things. I would fly to Paris tonight, just of the taste of perfection of this mouth watering piece of food.

Macaroon's according to the Laduree website:

These small, round cakes, crisp on the outside, smooth and soft in the middle, are made every morning in Ladurée’s "laboratory". With each new season, Ladurée pays tribute to this its most famous creation by creating a new flavour.
