I've been writing, or at least, noting down interesting information, poetry and short stories, ever since I can remember. It is however, only the last few years, that I've been actively learning how to write copy, how to interview people and how to bring beauty to the page.
I am in love with the beauty of words, with their ability to move people, to describe the textures and emotion brought to us by music, the environment and our interactions. Quotations are my true love. Short yet inexplicably inspiring - I collect them on Pinterest and in my note books and share them in my writing.
"My soul is full of longing for the secret of the sea, and the hear of the great ocean sends a thrilling pulse through me" - Henry W. Longfellow.
I am extremely fortunate to work with inspiration women on some truly special projects. My first assignment was to co-write the book Curacao: Banda Ariba with Kristel Slagter for Divas Publishing. The uber talented Eef Ouwehand was the photographer and worked on the design. This was to be one of many other books I have had the opportunity to work on with them.
This was truly the stepping stone for other projects such as a newsletter for Thelma & Louise - Wild Cooking in 2014 and an introductory piece in Helmi Smeulder's new cookbook based on her blog Spice Girl which is coming out this December.
Hopefully many other projects will be added to this page in the future.
Curacao: Banda Ariba
"This colorful book gives a glimpse of the places one should not miss of the central and eastern part of Curaçao, named Banda Ariba. Its urbanized sections, cultural richness and unspoiled nature are beautifully captured by Eef Ouwehand’s artistic and colorful photography" - from the book.
In May 2014 I was approached to co-write the book Curaçao: Banda Ariba. The third book in the Curaçao series by Divas Publishing. I was honored and excited when they asked and now extremely proud to be part of this book.
The book is available online via Eef Ouwehand's website and in various bookshops in Curacao.
Modern Caribbean Flavors
Helmi Smeulders, also featured in Curacao: Banda Ariba, will be presenting her first cookbook next week in Curacao. Many of her delicious recipes are featured in the book and I am extremely proud to be part of this project with Helmi and Kristel and Eef of Divas Publishing.
For 'Modern Caribbean Flavors' I wrote a short piece on the Caribbean and its culinary scene and history. The Caribbean is truly one of those melting pot places where you will find that cultures, cuisines and people have mixed and created something extraordinary.
The book will go on sale in December. I will provide an update soon where the book will be available.
