hello monday

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

The Press

Every month or so I send notes, short letters and cards - handwritten - to a handful of family and friends around the world. I love the concept of the postal mail. How a simple letter will need to pass through many hands to reach its final destination; a small 'army' of helpers to convey a lovely message.

Whenever we are in New York or London or Hamburg or Venice (and quite a few other places) we spend hours in stationary shops, exploring the endless options of printed or letterpress designs. The creativity is inspiring. The inspiration is almost overwhelming and we leave each boutique feeling happy with a card (or ten) that will hopefully bring a smile to its recipient.

E-mails are good. But parcels and post are better.

Letterpress cards are my favorites. Their texture, the process of producing them, the vintage experience they bring along; it is a marvel. I recently 'discovered' a wonderful letterpress in Australia (not exactly around the corner, but luckily they ship to Curacao as well). Have a look at Bespoke Letterpress when you have a chance.

“How wonderful it is to be able to write someone a letter! To feel like conveying your thoughts to a person, to sit at your desk and pick up a pen, to put your thoughts into words like this is truly marvelous.”

happy friday

Yesterday I had dinner with two lovely ladies who dream of going to Paris. It inevtibably has me dreaming of the city of lights today. And thus, a few lovely images to start the weekend.

I have never considered Roses Costes as an ordinary boutique. I prefer to define it as a treasure chest, a box where dreams can be touched and chosen.
