buttery brew at number 10
A few weeks ago Number 10 opened in Curacao. Saying it is a coffee shop or cafe will not do it justice. It is your ideal morning (and afternoon) hang out. An extension of your (dream) living room with delectable coffee, tea served to perfection and home baked pastries. Liberty and Donovan's dream is now the reality we all get to enjoy.
Today I tried a buttery brew. :)
Happy Friday.
growing baby corals
Check out this amazing talk by Kristen Marhaver!
"Kristen Marhaver studies corals, tiny creatures the size of a poppyseed that, over hundreds of slow years, create beautiful, life-sustaining ocean structures hundreds of miles long. As she admits, it's easy to get sad about the state of coral reefs; they're in the news lately because of how quickly they're bleaching, dying and turning to slime. But the good news is that we're learning more and more about these amazing marine invertebrates — including how to help them (and help them help us). This biologist and TED Senior Fellow offers a glimpse into the wonderful and mysterious lives of these hard-working and fragile creatures. " - TED.com
all that jazz
This weekend the island is filled with saxophones, trumpets and an amazing array of artists, composers and performers. We'll be dancing the night away (not in heels I might add) to the tunes of Emeli Sande, John Legend, Gregory Porter, Enrique Iglesias and many more at the 6th edition of the Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival.
kura hulanda
For me, the Kura Hulanda Hotel in Curacao is one of the most beautiful hotels. It is a five minute walk from our office, and yet we do not go there often enough. Today I met a friend there for lunch - and snapped a few pictures afterwards. It is always such a lovely and serene place to visit. For more information on the hotel click here.
And if you are looking for a nice place for lunch, I suggest Jacob's Bar and Terrace.
morning swim
Why not go for a morning swim? Especially if you live on an island or near the ocean - even if you have a pool in the garden. This morning we woke up a tiny bit earlier to go for a swim at 6.30am. First an espresso, then the swimsuit, a short drive to the beach house and then that invigorating dive into the water.
A perfect start to a day.
cooking class II
It was a challenge; but my mom and I learned how to fillet a lion fish. Helmi, and her team at Thelma and Louise, with her recipes from Spice Girl, designed a wonderful evening for us yesterday. A big thank you to them. For more information on the cooking class check out Spice Girl.
cooking class
Tonight we'll be joining the cooking class by Spice Girl. Learning how to cook with Caribbean ingredients - all with a modern twist. I am looking forward to it. Next week there is another class, so if you have some time and want get your creative juices flowing, make sure you sign up.
Spice Girl is also featured in Curacao: Banda Ariba.
hello monday
Today, after an activity filled Sunday, I am ready to start another amazing week. We climbed the Christoffel, swam in the clear blue ocean at Klein Knip - and then I slept - a lot. :)
Hope you had a great weekend as well.
Enjoy the week. xx Pris
