This study shows that just one plant per work space can provide a very large lift to staff spirits, and so promote wellbeing and performance”

“Hygge has been called everything from “the art of creating intimacy,” “coziness of the soul,” and “the absence of annoyance,” to “taking pleasure from the presence of soothing things,” “cozy togetherness,” and my personal favorite, “cocoa by candlelight”. Hygge”
― Meik Wiking, The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living.

For some creating a sense of hygge in the home is key. For me it is in my office. This wonderful space where I spend most of the daylight hours of my day is where my books live, where there is alway coffee and where the view is breathtaking. It is my hygge space.

wonton soup

In Shanghai I rediscovered wonton soup. Actually, one could argue that any wonton soup I ate previously could not be considered wonton soup now that I ate the "real thing" in Shanghai. Top of my list are the shrimp and vegetable wonton soup at the Andaz Xintiandi Shanghai and the shrimp wonton soup at the Park Hyatt Shanghai

At the Andaz the fresh vegetables in the wonton, combined with the shrimp, is just divine. At the Park Hyatt it is the seaweed and the view from the 89th floor that made it special. Now the search starts for the best recipe so I can make this lovely dish at home.

happy friday

Some times all you need is a few days in the middle of nowhere, a nice book and a massage. So that is what I did (during the week no less). It was a mini "staycation" on the West side of Curacao. The house, surrounded, by beautiful green hills, was so close to the ocean you could almost hear the waves, the wind provided a natural airconditioning and the birds woke us up in the morning. A stay at "Banda Abou" is not complete without a visit to the spa - 8 The Experience. An inspiring and relaxing location that brings every part of your body back to sparkling. And now. Now it is time for Friday. Island life is good.

one fine stay

Whether you stay at a hotel, rent an apartment or crash at a friends' house feeling comfortable is key to enjoying any trip - at least for me. So for our recent trips to London I decided to try an apartment rental service a friend once recommended. I am now officially, for London at least, hooked on Onefinestay. If only for the booking process, the friendly welcome and the iPhone you are entrusted with during your stay. What I really love though are the magazines they publish (which feel more like books) and their blog (surprise surprise).

So if you are heading to London, Paris, NYC, Los Angeles and now also Rome do consider them. But in any case check out their blog. I've posted a few pictures with the links below. Enjoy :)
