Yesterday we saw the movie "Mr. Turner", about British painter J.M.W. Turner. A lovely movie. His paintings are masterpieces. Below is one of Venice.
Turner enjoys a reputation as one of the finest and most original landscape painters in English history and Turner's style laid the foundations for Impressionism. Venice was the inspiration for some of Turner's greatest works including this painting entitled “The Grand Canal, Venice” below, painted in 1835.
