with love from home

From the safety and comfort of home I dream of the adventures we will take, of the city streets we will roam, of the oceans we will swim in, of the food we will taste, of the people we will meet, of the mountains we will climb and of the snow, sunsets and smiles we will marvel at.

Not too long ago the post cards I would sent would be signed off “with love from……somewhere in the world”. Today they are signed off “with love from home”. Home is wonderful. Home is comforting. Home is also where we plan our next trip.

Travel has always mesmerized us. It has opened up our world, it has showed us the beauty, the complexities and the wonders of the world. It is a marvel that we enjoy and though each trip I would appreciate these wondrous moments of packing, of lift off, of “hello’s” and “goodbye”, I somehow appreciate it more now. It is not travel for travel’s sake. It is travel to be with my love, to see my friends, so grow, to explore, to learn, to have my imagination “wowed”, - and to come back home and love that too.

One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things
— Henry Miller

This time at home can, and should, of course also spark new adventures. Adventures of a different kind perhaps. We explore our creativity, our sense of touch, our thoughts and our imagination - it is a new way of seeing things, a new way of experiencing the world; for our backyard, after all, is also part of this big, beautiful and mysterious world. Here, at home, we also meet the people we love, eat the food we enjoy and watch in awe as the sunsets over the horizon.

hello monday

Good morning and welcome to another wonderful week. Monday morning's have a tendency to be a bit difficult for most people. I am not sure if it is a physiological thing or just human nature. But I have to admit that once I get myself going - after espresso and a lovely breakfast - the day usually turns out quite great. So today I thought I'd share a few details of my early morning. What does your routine include?

coffee, breakfast, oj - in a beautiful Venetian glass and some Vogue for inspiration.

Have a great week. Smile loads.
